A house by the sea, and its habits

On the Amalfi Coast, Rosa Esposito carries on the family welcome of Casa Mare, between tradition and new expectations.

Four suites above the sea, breakfast served on the terrace and lemons from the garden. Rosa Esposito has welcomed guests for thirty years and refuses to let hospitality become a procedure.

What have thirty years taught you?

That people rarely remember the room. They remember the person who showed them the small cove, or who kept their favourite table.

How do you keep that bond with more requests?

By being organised. When everything is noted in one place, I can spend my energy on conversation, not on memory.

A guesthouse is not managed. It is kept.
